I am very grateful that I have the ability to take a dear, dear elderly friend to the oncologist today. She had a growth removed from her head, and it was diagnosed as breast cancer. So, today we go to find out the options.
3 of her children live in the Midwest, and one in the south. They rely on us to help their mom and give her comfort. I am glad that they have this amount of confidence in us.
So, for all of those with elderly friends and parents, I am thankful I can do something good in your honor.
Maggie's Mom
You are an angel. We have an angel too. Uncle Vince who's not really a blood uncle at all. Since my peeps don't drive, Uncle Vince comes all the way from the Bronx whenever they really need to go some place or do something where they need a car. Bless peeps such as yourself and Uncle Vince
ReplyDeleteMario's mom here - you are such a wonderful person Wanda. When my dad was declining in another city and I worked full time, I had rely on friends of his in that city to take him to doctor appointments, etc. Your services and those of others like you are so very very appreciated. I'm sure they are very thankful you are doing that too. I have paid back to society too in driving some of the elderly around to appointments. Unfortunately, I've had to give that up now, but it performs a great service and the families always appreciate it so much.
ReplyDeleteMy human had a friend who died from breast cancer a few years ago. It was sad - she was only 38 - but she lived in Los Angeles, far away from her family in Florida. She loved her new home and did not want to move back, and it was only through the help of a network of friends helping her through her treatments that she was able to stay out here. She even wound up getting married the month before she died.
ReplyDeleteI heard from her daughter and SIL who wwere very grateful I was there. The widwo Woman was scared beyond belief, and it was an elephant that got off her with the news. All told, a great day. thanks for your story.
DeleteI have really good news! Her breast cancer, although metastasized, is the eastiest to treat with hormone receptor therapy, one pill a day. The great 88 year old can live a long life now!
ReplyDeleteWe are glad tha you are able to be there for this dear lady. We are purring for her.
ReplyDeleteThey've come quite a ways with some of those therapies. We think of that often when we think of Marty's mom as a 35 year BC survivor - and the Tx and Rx they did to her back then! *shudder* seems almost barbaric compared to the radiation therapy available now!
ReplyDeleteoops, we hit enter too soon! Meant to say that we're so glad she's going to have an easy go of it - and we can only imagine how very much her family appreciates all you are doing for her!
